1. Introduction

Welcome to Car Rental Self Drive. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our car rental services. By booking or using our vehicles, you agree to abide by these terms. Please review them carefully.

2. Rental Agreement

• Eligibility:
  • You must be at least 21 years old (or 25 for certain vehicle categories) with a valid driver’s license and a credit card.
  • International renters must provide an International Driving Permit (IDP) if their license is not in English.
• Reservation:
  • Ensure all provided information is accurate. Incorrect information may result in cancellation or refusal of the rental.

3. Rental Charges and Payment

• Rental Fees:
  • Charges depend on vehicle type, rental duration, and additional services. The fee structure will be detailed at the time of booking.
• Deposit:
  • A security deposit is required and will be held on your credit card. This deposit will be released upon return of the vehicle, subject to inspection and any applicable charges.
• Additional Charges:
  • Extra fees may include those for additional drivers, late returns, refueling, mileage overages, and any damage incurred.

4. Use of Vehicle

• Permitted Use:
  • The vehicle must be used only for lawful purposes and in accordance with local traffic laws. Off-road driving, racing, and use for illegal activities are prohibited.
  • Cross-border travel may be restricted. Obtain prior authorization if you wish to take the vehicle outside Rwanda.
• Vehicle Care:
  • You are responsible for the vehicle’s upkeep and must report any issues or damage immediately. Regular maintenance such as oil checks and tire pressure should be monitored during the rental period.

5. Insurance and Liability

• Basic Insurance:
  • Basic coverage includes collision damage waiver (CDW), theft protection, and third-party liability. Check your rental agreement for details.
• Additional Insurance:
  • Optional insurance for enhanced coverage is available, such as zero excess coverage, personal accident insurance, and coverage for specific risks.
• Liability:
  • You are liable for any damage to the vehicle not covered by insurance, including damages caused by negligence, misuse, or violation of the rental agreement.

6. Vehicle Return

• Return Location and Timing:
  • Return the vehicle to the agreed location and by the specified return time. Late returns may incur additional charges.
• Condition:
  • The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as received, minus normal wear and tear. Clean the vehicle inside and out before return to avoid cleaning fees.
• Fuel:
  • Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as when rented. Failure to do so will result in a refueling charge.

7. Cancellations and Modifications

• Cancellation Policy:
  • Cancellations made within [X] hours/days before the rental start time may incur a fee. Refer to your booking confirmation for specific terms.
• Modifications:
  • Modifications to your reservation are subject to availability and may incur additional charges. Changes must be requested as early as possible.

8. Termination of Agreement

9. Limitation of Liability

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our rental services. Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the rental, except where prohibited by law.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • You may not modify the vehicle in any way, including adding accessories or making alterations. Unauthorized modifications will be charged.
